Welcome to Third Grade!!
Welcome to the start of a new school year at Taliaferro County School! We hope this letter finds you and your family in good health and high spirits. As we embark on this exciting academic journey, we wanted to take a moment to introduce ourselves and provide you with some valuable information to ensure a successful year for your child in third grade.
My name is Melissa Riley. I am so excited to be your child's teacher this school year. This is my fifteenth-year teaching.
I was born in South Carolina and have lived in the CSRA my entire life. I now live in Danburg, GA with my husband, three dogs, our cat, and a feisty flock of chickens and ducks.
Along with my bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from Lander University, I have my Montessori Elementary Endorsement in both Georgia and South Carolina. I have also received extensive Literacy training through the University of South Carolina. I have also received my master's degree in education with an emphasis in Literacy from the American College of Education.
Our primary goal is to create a positive and engaging learning environment that fosters academic growth, creativity, and personal development for each student. Throughout the year, we will focus on various subjects, including Mathematics, Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, and more. We are thrilled to be working with your child and look forward to witnessing their progress and achievements.
To help your child have a smooth start to the school year, we have prepared a list of essential materials they will need. Please ensure that your child comes prepared with the following items:
Ticonderoga #2 pencils
BIC Lead Pencils 0.9
Pentel White Erasers
Crayola colored pencils (12pack)
Highlighters
Glue sticks
1 Pack of Dry-erase markers (black)
Two three-ring binders (1-inch size) with loose-leaf paper
Backpack (with enough space for books and materials)
Parent involvement plays a crucial role in a child's education, and we encourage you to be active participants in your child's learning journey. Throughout the year, we will be organizing various events, workshops, and parent-teacher conferences to keep you updated on your child's progress and discuss any concerns you may have.
Feel free to reach out to us via email or phone if you have any questions or need further information. We believe that open communication between home and school is vital to ensure the best possible educational experience for your child.
We are excited to begin this school year with your child and are committed to providing them with a safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment. Together, let's make this academic year a memorable and successful one for your child.
Thank you for entrusting us with your child's education.
Sincerely,
Melissa Riley M.Ed.
